A new dress, a glance back and a look to the future
I can’t believe it can be already the end of Sept! Earlier this month, I got an email from Liesl of Oliver + Knitted Stone Island Crew Neck Sweater For Men Dark Grey Ersus asking me only would join in on the book tour involving her newly unveiled book, Building Block Gown. I figured it would be the perfect time to not only share a new book by the amazing Liesl, but also share some thoughts on my 1st season of KCW with you guys!

So first, it! This is a departure via what I’ve seen inside sewing books these days. The idea of the book, is that you get a block gown (or a building block, because the title suggests), and you are clearly given instructions regarding how to fit properly, customise and even redraft pieces to help you build what ever outfit of your choosing! There are, of course, a number of dresses which are already modified, together with instructions for each modification, so that you can either create the dress or apply the type of modification for your own piece.

The ebook is, as with all things Oliver + S, very well put together. And you will tell there has been lots of love poured in to this book! It’s very well thought out and organized. And the size range!! I hadn’t anticipated it to start thus low, if I had realized, I would get sewn the baby a dress… But you realize, once you have an idea in your thoughts, you have to roll from it right !

I stitched A a dimension 5, which I altered by giving it a b line to stone island embroidered beanie the bodice bit and lowering that to her leg length, and shade blocked the top portion with this fun upside down V detail. The greatest change I did however, was with cloth. The book is designed for wovens, however you can easily take a stitched parttern and change it up using a knit fabric. Which can be exactly what I did! We used a navy jersey I had on hand, with a floral ponte de stone island embroidered beanie roma textile I’ve also been on my stash for some time. And overall, this came together quite easily!

This is really a one hour task, even with the penning of the pieces. And the results were definitely worth this! A loves it and I love it… However her loving it can be what really issues right ! I mean, when my kids don’t love the pieces My spouse and i make them and will never wear them, then what’s the point of sewing their particular wardrobes !

Which brings me to KCW, the seasons and also challenges are all about moving ourselves to spend that time to sew for our children. For one hour per day, four weeks of the year, we all unite by stitching for our children. Inside creating wonderful components of clothing that they will adore (hopefully!).

This summer season was a crazy one particular! Being my initial, and being in power over so much, was a massive learning curve! One of the biggest things I learned, I need to be WAY more organized then I am proper now… Oh, and images are definitely something I must work on (which is why the actual May ones continue to be up….. ooops!!!!).

Looking back, there are definitely things that I need to make improvements to. But I hope which you all had a fun encounter none the a smaller amount! And looking forward, there are many things I’d wish to bring to you guys! Equally site wise and also community wise. But before I go and mention anything, I’d like to know WHAT you guys love/hate precisely what you’d like to see.

I’d really appreciate it in case you could help me out there by filling out this specific survey. And if there may be anything missing around the survey itself that you’d like to discuss, feel free to shoot me an email! Please remember, this book… Gah!!! I obtained a copy of it free of charge, but all ideas are my own. If I didn’t already have a copy, I’d be depleted to grab a my own copy of it, that is how good it’s!!! Not walking, working 😉 You can grab your copy here

I’m going to be announcing the details for the upcoming season in a few days, so make sure to be on the lookout for that!

Happy Sewing 🙂
